Welcome to AHAVA parent association!

Dear Fellow Schechter Parents,

AHAVA would like to welcome you to Solomon Schechter and to the parent association. We are proud of our outstanding school, well achieving students, professional and caring staff and supportive parents. What is AHAVA PA? As our name implies, AHAVA – which means “love” in Hebrew – adds a special extra caring touch, as well as vital financial support, to many of Schechter’s projects and celebrations. As Schechter parents, you are automatically members of AHAVA.

AHAVA sponsors many programs and events in our school. Our volunteer efforts make events like these possible: holiday celebrations, cultural arts program, class trips and Purim Carnival. Through fundraisers (Book Fairs, student lunch program, Mishloah Manot) AHAVA provides money and support for: class gifts to the teachers, sponsoring an annual end of year faculty luncheon and much more. We encourage parents to visit classrooms, accompany classes on field trips, read to children in the library, and actively participate in their children's education. In fostering a sense of community among our families, we welcome parent participation in the life of the School.

This past year alone, AHAVA renovated the school’s art room, brought celebrated authors, poets and even the popular singing group, The Maccabeats, to our school, and provided festive treats for all the holidays, including Mishloah Manot on Purim. Yet, AHAVA isn’t just about enriching our school and our children’s experience; it’s also about enriching our own lives. It’s about making lifelong friends; it’s about having a great time doing good and about just plain having a great time at such events as Mom’s or Dad’s Night Out or our monthly book club.  

As always, please feel free to let us know about any ideas, suggestions, questions or comments that you may have about how AHAVA can be of service to you, to the school, and to the Schechter community.  We look forward to a great year together and to seeing you soon!
