Organizes the Great Books reading program to enhance the childrens' reading ability.  Instructors need to take a one day course to be certified which will be paid for by the PTO.

Finds volunteers and coordinates Fitness Test (Oct), Jump Rope for Heart (Feb) and Gymnastics (Feb - Mar).

 
Hospitality

Provides and/or serves refreshments at PTO meetings, Kindergarten Orientation (Aug) and monthly teacher breakfasts (Oct - Mar).

 
Perpetual Fund

Represents MES at Region 15 Perpetual Fund board meetings.  The Perpetual Fund is a region-wide committee that raises funds for families in the region with significant needs due to an illness or circumstance.

 
Publicity / Scrapbook

Description:  

Takes and collects photographs of school events and submits them with a brief write-up to the local newspaper within 2 weeks of event and provides the pictures to the Yearbook Coordinator.

 
School Supply Kits
Chair:   Darlene Capozzi
Description:  

Coordinates with vendor the contents of supplies kits for each grade level (1 through 5) and is available for delivery in August to set-up boxes in cafeteria for pick-up by parents.

 
Spirit Day

Organize school spirit activities that promote the characteristics of our school song.

 
Student Directory

Organize and distribute student directory in September.

 
Teacher Appreciation Luncheon (May)

Assist in the coordination of a one-time a year MES faculty luncheon hosted by the PTO.

 
Teacher Breakfasts

Description:  

Organizes monthly Teacher/Staff Appreciation breakfasts.  Each month a different grade is asked to donate breakfast items.

 
Volunteer Coordinator

Description:  

Collect volunteer forms in July, Aug and Sep, organize volunteers for all PTO activities and committees and creates Excel spreadsheet which is ready in late September to distribute to the coordinators for each committee.

 
Webmaster / E-mail Blast Coordinator

Description:  

Maintains MES PTO website and sends E-mail Blasts for the various committees.

 
Yearbook
Chair:   Amy VonCulin
Description:  

Takes and collects school pictures, organizes layouts of pictures in the yearbook using computer program and submits to publisher.  Also collects orders and distributes the yearbook.
