“Dance Assembly” is a fun event offered to all 6th Grade Students at both NBJH and St. Norbert.  It’s designed to enhance students’ social and emotional well-being by encouraging confidence.   Starting in January 2020, your child will have the opportunity to learn many styles of social dancing (including line dances and ballroom dances) and etiquette. The eight dance lessons are organized by the NBJH PTO and will be taught by the very professional and fun dance instructor, Vera Schmidt.

NBJH PTO has been running this program for decades, and while we realize some students may be apprehensive about attending, most students enjoy the experience and have fond memories.

All lessons will be held in the NBJH Gymnasium from 5:00 pm-6:15 pm. The course begins on Saturday, January 11th and runs through March 7th. Due to President’s Day weekend, there will be no class on February 15th. Dance Assembly dates are: January 11, 18, 25; February 1, 8, 22, 29; March 7. The final session on March 7th is also our Parents’ Night, giving all parents the opportunity to see what their child has learned and for parents/guardians to dance with their child.

The cost of this eight-week course is $85 per student. We want everyone who is interested to be able to attend, and scholarship funds are available in a confidential manner – please contact Wendy Nichols, PTO President, for more information.

If you would like to VOLUNTEER to be a chaperone, you can sign-up at www.nbjhpto.com (under the “More Info” tab or the “Volunteer” tab). In an effort to let everyone have a chance to volunteer, please note there is a limit of 1 session, per person. If we need more volunteers, we will lift this cap at a later date. The link will go live on Monday, November 4th at 10:00 a.m. on www.nbjhpto.com.

We hope you will take advantage of this wonderful opportunity to help your child gain confidence through dancing and socializing with their peers.  Please register and submit payment online at www.nbjhpto.com need details if there is a specific area to go We look forward to seeing your child on the dance floor!
